Hey everybody! My name is Kirby Peterson and I just started my internship at Fe y Justicia in June. I'm really excited to have the opportunity to advocate for and work on behalf of such a crucial population in this country. Along with partnering with FJWC in an effort to achieve worker justice for all, I am also pursuing my Masters of Social Work from the University of Houston. For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for developing relationships and serving individuals who feel ignored, forgotten, or outright rejected from others.
I look forward to challenging myself throughout my experience at Fe y Justicia Worker Center. I have a lot to learn when it comes to worker justice, but just knowing how great the need is for this kind of work keeps me going. This internship is an important step in my professional life, offering me the necessary tools to work with a population that is desperately in need of well-informed advocates.
Kirby is pursuing his Masters in Social Work at the University of Houston and has been volunteering with Fe y Justicia Worker Center since June 2014.
